  Vrak i Narvik !

   

 
M/S Stråssa
sjösattes 1921 i Göteborg. Skeppet är 127 meter långt och 18 meter brett med en besättning på 34 man. Under andravärdskriget transporterade hon järnmalm mellan Narvik och Amerika. Den 6 april 1940 avseglade hon fullastad med järnmalm med destination Baltimore i Amerika. Utanför Lofoten fick hon problem med kylsystemet och blev stillastående i två dagar. En tysk jagare beordrade M/S Stråssa tillbaka till Narvik. Den 11 maj 1940 kl. 11.35 skedde en explosition ombord och hon sjönk till 26 meters djup i Narviks hamn.

  Wilhelm Heidkamp- En tysk jagare byggd i Bremen 1936 ledde en konvoj med tio jagare under kriget. Skeppet var 122 meter långt och hade en besättning om 323 man. Hon hadde en toppfart av 36 knop. Wilhelm Heidkamp sänktes av HMS Hunter, HMS Havock och HMS Hardy kl. 05:30 på morgonen den 10 April 1940. 81 man förlorade livet i slaget.

Anton Schmitt
- a German destroyer with the designation Z21 and was a twin ship to Wilhelm Heidkamp. The ship was build in 1936 in Bremen, it was 123 meter long and had a crew of 323 men and a top speed in 36 knots. Anton Schmitt was sunk near Wilhelm Heidmap in 1940 on April 10 and lies today on the starboard tack In 16-27 meters of water.

The ore steamer D/S Romanby was built in 1921 in England. The ship was by anchor in Narvik when it was torpedoed 1940 on the 10th of April. The ship was 130 meters long, 18 meters wide and had a crew of 34 men. Today Romanby stands on her right keel in a depth of 16-29 meters.

The German cargo ship Neuenfels was torpedoed in 1940 on the 10th of April. Neuenfels was with it 143 meter and 8000 gross a big cargo ship. Today it stands on it's right keel in a depth of 9-24 meters.

Fourty Kilometers (~25 miles) outside Narvik lies the lake Hartvigvattnet. The Germans used the lake for take-off and landing for their Junker plane.Junker 52 was a twelve meter long, three engines plane that transported warmaterial to the German troops. The plane fell through the ice in 1940. Today the well kept wreck lies in depth of 2-7 meters.

Diving place/ Diving package: private day trip, lies in a tarn.



   
   

 


Martha Heinrich Fisser
was built in 1911 in Germany. The ship was 118 meters long and torpedoed in 1940 on the 10th of April in Narviks harbour. It stands like a “Donald Duck” wreck.

The German destroyer HERMANN KUNNE Z 19 was sunk in 1940 on April 13. Until the 24th of March 2005 there was diving prohibition. Narvik dyk och äventyr is the only company that have permission to dive there. The ship was 123,5 meter long and twelve meters wide. She was pushed up on a sandy beach in the outskirts of Narvik and lies in depth 0-37 meter.

DRONNING MAUD
was built and launched in 1925. The ship was built to traffic along Norway’s coast and was included as a ship in brisk route. The ship was later rebuilt to be a so called hospital ship which she later was called. Dronning Maud was on the way to Foldvik to load people, cars and supplies when she was fired at by a German plane. A fire started onboard and later that day the ship sunk in 1940 on May 1st. It stands on right keel like a “ Donald Duck” wreck.
